Thera East Anglia is looking for Support Workers to work at our short breaks and community support base, called Oaklands in Alpington, (South Norwich)

The state of the art building will provide enjoyable and fun breaks for adults with a learning disability within the region as well as providing day support.

Oaklands includes two bedrooms for overnight stays, a sensory room with interactive floor, bathroom with LED light changing spa bath, a wet room and a spacious garden with a swing, summer house and sunken trampoline.

Our Support Workers play a vital role in helping the people we support and their families to enjoy short breaks and maintain their support networks.

The right candidate should be a good problem solver and have a dynamic personality. They will be working as part of a friendly and supportive team on a 2:1 basis as well as using their own initiative working 1:1 with people.

Preferred but not essential to apply are:

- Experience of working with people with a learning disability

- Experience of working with a range of ability levels

- A history of working with people with Autistic Spectrum Disorders

- A history of working with people who may display Complex Behaviours

- Experience supporting people to take medication

You will support people with a variety of tasks to ensure that they enjoy their stay. Activities are varied and personalised to the different individuals that we support and include trips out as well as activities within the house. A day could include everything from taking a trip to the coast, to taking the person you are supporting shopping or swimming. Your role will also include supporting people with personal care.

All staff will have the opportunity to undertake specialist accredited training to develop their skills further.

You will need to be flexible and be able to work various shift patterns including early and late shifts and sleep-ins for which additional payments will be made. Drivers are preferred due to the location

All posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check which will be paid for by Thera.
