Now looking to recruit a purchasing manager to be responsible for group wide services that includes distribution, e-commerce and in the last 2 years design and assembly of their own product brand, this role will be responsible for;
Managing the day to day purchasing activities, supplier management, inventory management, inventory forecasting and all other purchasing and supply chain activities
Designing and implementing a fully functional purchasing department from a greenfield environment. This role will take a highly strategic direction and will play and pivotal role in working directly with the managing director and CEO to recommend and implement robust purchasing and procurement processes and policies.
The role of purchasing manager will make recommendations for key purchasing, forecasting and inventory management systems that need to be implemented into the business. Your role will be responsible for researching the market for the most suitable purchasing systems, to lead on the implementation stage and to deliver staff training to ensure it is used to it's maximum potential.
You will be responsible for accurately forecasting customer requirement through regular meetings with operational teams and the managing director. You will also take a key role in implementing a more effective and practical forecasting process that will be suitable, robust and effective as the business continuous it's rapid growth.
Key to this role is the ability to develop a manageable strategy to implement an effective purchasing and inventory management function in an orderly and timely manner. It is vital that you would can effectively engage with senior management to gain commitment and approval for your plans and also have the gravitas / influencing skills to get the wider business to adopt and embrace to processes.
To be suitable for this you will have a combination of both purchasing and inventory management and will be experienced in managing thousands of SKU's.
You will either have existing purchasing and inventory management experience at a senior level that demonstrates a proven track record of delivering a new look procurement purchasing function OR you will be a fast rising senior buyer with significant experience and aptitude to take on a new and large scale challenge.
It is essential you have outstanding communication skills with a strong emphasis on being able develop purchasing strategies, processes and policies and have the influencing skills to get ideas off the ground.
You must be highly proficient in Excel as the business are currently a predominant user of this for the purchasing and inventory planning activities.
Ideally you will demonstrate some practical experience in rolling out projects in procurement/purchasing. In the absence of this you need to clearly demonstrate the aptitude required to effectively prioritise heavy work loads that will enable you to undertake the day to day activities of purchasing environment whilst simultaneously planning and rolling out a new purchasing function.
