Leading Chemical Manufacturer requires an experienced Production Manager to control the production for the chemical manufacturing plant. You will ensure production and quality targets are met in a safe manner and take actions to ensure that the processes operate to budget. Providing production advice, you will be actively involved in maintaining and improving plant operating efficiency, safety and environmental standards. You will be responsible for effective staff allocation, training and discipline.
You will be responsible for the introduction of new chemical processes from R&D into the plant, alongside routine production. You will be expected to be actively involved in the writing of process directions and to be a key figure in driving forward the simplification of our manufacturing documentation and the transition to paperless systems. You will have ownership of many of the product, including running process improvement groups, and be a key external and internal customer contact. You will be expected to be closely involved in customer visits and may be required to support our Sales team in external customer visits.
To be successful you will ideally have a degree in Chemistry or Engineering, with some experience of line management in fine or pharmaceutical or polymer chemical manufacture. You will need excellent planning, communication and people skills.
An understanding of essential engineering requirements of a chemical plant is desirable, along with knowledge of quality and environmental management systems, manufacturing equipment control systems, GMP and COSHH in a chemical manufacturing environment.
You will have a practical approach to problem solving and a good eye for detail, with the ability to work under pressure. IT literacy and commercial awareness are desirable skills.
The salary band for this position will be £28,000-35,000 per annum. This role works Monday-Friday 08:45 - 16:30.
