We currently have a fantastic opportunity to recruit an experienced Product Standards Manager into the Central Technical Team at our clients' site in Corby.

Our client is one of Europe's leading tube suppliers with a long and successful track record in the industry. Our products and services are specially packaged to meet our client's needs whether they are in the construction, conveyance, lifting/excavating and agricultural machinery.

Product Management is a wide ranging & key activity for our client in remaining competitive and to maximising the revenue from its assets. This requires strong cross-functional coordination in order to meet or beat demanding targets on a comprehensive set of business KPI's. Products not only need development but management of the product design and lowest cost to serve throughout their life cycle to maximize their value to the Tubes Hub.

The role of Product Manager is required as a central resource for the Management of Tube Standards activity and the successful candidate will take on the role of a cross-functional leader, enabling and delivering change.

The Role

In this capacity, you will lead various aspects of product management, primarily the leadership of standards activities. This role will provide a single point of coordination and expertise for the management of TSEs interaction with National, European and International standards organisations in relation to tubes products, processes and applications. In addition, you will be required to provide technical specialist services in relation to product metallurgy/materials to the CTS and NPD teams within the Tubes Unit.

Within the role, your key responsibilities and accountabilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

*To lead standards development activity within the Tubes hub
*To represent DSO Tubes in all TSE standards matters
*To Overview management of all standards committee activities
*Implement common standards management business processes as required
*Review resources available and recommend changes as necessary to meet the Tubes Unit standards development programme
*Chair BSI standards committees & European working groups as appropriate
*Provide product metallurgy specialist expertise to CTS in support of customers and to NPD in support of development projects
*Provide product metallurgy expertise. To drive future strategy for the asset & products portfolio through the implementation of the product and asset roadmaps.
*To undertake competitor product benchmarking to ensure the continued competitiveness of Tubes Hub products
*Manage the through chain' cost to serve' of the products for tubes UK
*Understand and lead Product Cost improvement activities.
*To analyse the assigned Tubes Hub product portfolio and initiate and manage action plans to improve mix, reduce cost to serve and improve asset capability in the Tubes Hub
*Define product line product policies and advise on product guidelines for Sector teams & group marketing
*Define asset loading rule sets to maximize business returns for received order book
*To lead and manage assigned product executives/specialists in the delivery of AP commitments for the product line, and ensuring competence development of direct reports

The role does require a level of travel within the UK and Europe in the attendance of various standards committee meetings. You will be directly working with the UK and NL based technical teams, manufacturing site and other European and worldwide offices.

The Person

As the Product Manager, you will ideally be educated to degree level in Engineering, Metallurgy or Physical Sciences discipline and preferably with further education in Business related disciplines.

The successful candidate will have an extensive knowledge of the Steel industry, particularly the manufacture, processing and application and knowledge of International Standards development.

In addition to this, you will also require the following skills:

*The individual will be a good communicator and listener on technical matters, and will need to apply these skills to a broad spectrum of people.
*Sound organisation and coordination skills will be essential, as will be skills in advocacy in order to draw together resources from across products and operating hubs.
*The ability to work independently but also within a commercial/technical team is essential.
*Highly developed influencing and diplomatic skills, strong team worker, capable of interfacing with senior management within the Company and with senior representatives of external organisations.
*Keen business acumen
*An ability to perform in multi-function, multi-geographic and multi-cultural environments is essential.
