PEGlobal are looking for a Planner Buyer for their multinational life sciences client based in the Lancashire on an initial 12 month contract.

Duties & Responsibilities of the role

Planning Element

  • Managing planning workbook in SAP (APO). Creation/refresh of plan monthly to ensure plan aligned with refreshed customer demand
  • Monitoring over and under consumption and resetting plan as required. Challenge significant swings with Demand Team as appropriate
  • Maintaining a weekly capacity plan for manufacturing areas aligned with forecasted demand from customers. Gaining commitment from the Ops team leaders to the plan
  • Monitoring manufacturing output weekly and ensuring plan agreed is adhered to.
  • Challenge failures to hit plan and try to mediate solution with the Ops team that does not impact or compromise the customer. Timely escalation of issues where they cannot be addressed directly 
  • Prevention of customer service issues through effective management of plan and inventory. Pre-empting issues using forecast trend and MI
  • Trending and managing FG inventory aligned with site targets.
  • Proactively provide ATP, Supply Commit and BO updates. Deployment of inventory based on customer need/allocation priorities
  • Managing global allocation process to ensure critical markets supply is maintained
  • Updating comments daily in WW BO Report. Prepare the vulnerability report and lead the weekly BO call on behalf of the site
  • Compiling  site/PP&L metrics detailing  performance to targets (BO, Inventory, Schedule attainment)
  • Leading effective planning meeting that addresses and challenges gaps to plan attainment, reviews BO and position to SS
  • Long term rough cut capacity analysis using APO to determine order trends and proactively manage peak customer requirements
  • Play lead role in the daily Ops meetings to ensure target are being met day to day. Challenge failure to hit plan.
  • Ability to develop market forecast that drives the capacity plan using DP tool in APO
  • Trending market forecast and intelligence ensuring alignment with capacity and deployment plans
  • Liaising with the markets to improve MAPE accuracy

Material Control Element

  • Timely action of MRP messages to create POs for direct raw materials needed to support the site Manufacturing plan ensuring no stock outs
  • Liaising with the Stores function to ensure timely receipt of raw materials
  • Checks scheduled delivery dates and makes initial contact with suppliers on late deliveries.
  • Works daily with suppliers to build effective relationships to ensure stock outs/issues  are proactively mitigated
  • Ensure all purchasing specifications referenced on the MRP system are accurate and reflect the latest revision of the specification following SCP-QA05
  • Review and maintain the safety stock levels within the MRP system to reflect current usage and future forecast.
  • Proactively working with Accounts Payable to address and resolve invoice queries
  • To ensure that all administration activities required to support the supply base are executed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • To generate, maintain and communicate PP&L metrics to agreed timelines
  • Ensures escalation of supplier issues to Source and PP&L lead
  • Identifies raw material and component requirements for production from the ERP System and production spec.  Monitors planning modules or production planning system with current lead times, and related information.
  • Ensures accuracy of signals for the timely ordering and delivery of components to support manufacturing activities
  • Participates in new product launch meetings and assists in developing new product forecasts and production schedules.
  • Takes appropriate action in resolving discrepancies in order quantity, price and seeks corrective action on late deliveries.
  • Coordinates and follows up with production, warehouse, supply chain and others, as required, to ensure appropriate procurement, scheduling and movement of materials and services.      
  • Assures accuracy of database of suppliers of products used in manufacturing process.
  • Adheres to the Company’s procedures as detailed in the SOP manual.

Desired Experience and Backgroudn of the successful candidate

  • 4+ years of relevant experience. Both functions preferred.
  • Experienced ERP / Planning Systems User, able to execute in an ERP System
  • Working with spreadsheets/data analysis
  • Supply chain experience in medical device or pharmaceutical industry
  • Contract manufacturing experience
  • Working knowledge of financial processes
  • SAP experience
  • Applies understanding of cycle time, throughput, labor efficiency, and related concepts to drive alignment with overall Production Plan to ensure raw materials are in place to support production
  • Demonstrates understanding of the impact of equipment downtime and adjusts daily production plans accordingly
  • Leverages knowledge of the production and planning processes to identify opportunities to improve the initial plan, (i.e. through the application of lean processes)
  • Data mining skills through MS-Excel (or equivalent) strong organization skills and an aptitude for planning.
