What kind of role?
We are looking for someone who is passionate about the art and science of teaching and learning in a SEN setting.
- Age and experience are much less important than passion, commitment and evidence of outstanding practice in your current setting.
As part of this role you will spend 40% of your time in the classroom teaching SEN students - mainly ASD.
The other 60% of your time will be in a practitioner role; you will be coaching and supporting staff in their own roles. This work will be based around improving standards for the School/College and will involve observing as well as reporting to the Head. You will work alongside our existing teachers and managers but you will have an exclusive focus on the art and science of teaching and learning in our classrooms and workshops.
This an exciting new post and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the role and influence the education and life chances of the client children and young adults , many of whom have complex needs.
What about you?
BE PASSIONATE! This is the most important aspect of any candidate interested in this role.
You are likely to have some post-graduate experience and commitment to research into pedagogy.
You will lead by example and teach your own subject or vocational area for 40% of the week. The rest of your time will be spent supporting existing , and excellent , teachers to develop their skill sets further and to promote a positive culture of shared learning and research.
What about the School?
As someone who has personally seen the sites for this client I can say it is in a beautiful location. The School is dedicated to its students both younger and matured and have a focus on supporting them in a way that will aid them in everyday life. Skills they learn with this client will likely support them in thei future lives.
As these students are Low-Functioning ASD it is not unheard of for students to have violent outbursts - part and parcel of their own frustration. If you relish a chance to make a difference in learning and students lives then this could be the role for you.
