Senior Java Developer – Energy Data Platform

Location: Teesside (Remote / Hybrid)

Type: Full-time

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

Hours: 37.5 per week (3 days in office/ 2 working from home)

About the Role

Imperial Recruitment Group are recruiting for a leading provider of energy market data and analytics in the UK and Europe. Their platforms process billions of data points from power markets every day, providing actionable insights for energy traders, analysts, and operators.

They are looking for a Senior Java Developer to work on services that handle large, complex datasets and turn them into reliable, high-performance systems. You will build APIs, improve data pipelines, and help make the platform faster, simpler, and more scalable.

You will join a small, focused team where decisions are made quickly, ideas are valued, and your work has a direct impact.

Duties

• Build and run backend services using Java, Spring Boot.
• Work with diverse and complex energy and market data.
• Design data flows, APIs and integrations that scale.
• Deploy and monitor services in AWS / Kubernetes.
• Help shape the product and tech direction as we grow.
• Deploy to cloud environments (AWS / Kubernetes) with modern CI/CD pipelines (Github Actions / Jenkins).

Experience

• Strong Java experience and modern framework knowledge.
• Comfortable working with data-heavy or distributed systems.
• A practical mindset - you care about clarity, performance and maintainability.
• Desirable experience in energy, data analytics, or time-series data.
