Our client, a global law firm, has a fantastic opportunity to join and manage their Alumni programme.

Overview

The Alumni Manager is a new role and the Manager will be responsible for development and management of the programme, activities and resourcing. The Alumni Manager will report to the Chief Marketing Officer and work closely with the Chair of EMEA, the programme’s primary sponsor as well as colleagues in the Marketing, HR, and fee earning teams. This is a part time role of approximately 16-20 hours per week.

The Role

Alumni strategy development and implementation

  • Translate the alumni programme vision of key stakeholders into a strategy and implementation plan focussed on building brand, human and financial capital amongst the alumni community
  • Continue to review strategy to ensure alignment with the firms' business strategy and objectives of senior management and adjust accordingly
  • Report regularly to senior management on implementation of the strategy
  • Work alongside an extended network of colleagues from Marketing, HR, Client Services and the fee earning teams where relevant

Alumni Programme Development

  • Develop the alumni programme for the London office. As a future step this to be extended to key offices in the EMEA network in close collaboration with the local teams
  • Create and agree key milestones for the alumni programme and deliverables against key milestones
  • Identify and agree key communication and engagement channels
  • Ensure its overall maintenance and continued improvement

Alumni Database Management

  • Working alongside the database team and HR department review current alumni data management and update accordingly
  • Develop a plan of action to capture alumni information and ensure it is kept up to date

Alumni Portal Management

  • Review, revise and maintain the channels in which the alumni can engage and access information via the website and any other portals utilised
  • Ensure continued improvement of the portal(s) with support from relevant teams

Alumni Engagement

  • Develop an alumni engagement plan aligned with the strategy and action programme to include social media/engagement platforms, newsletters and events
  • Work with other teams, including marketing on the development and management of events
  • Develop a content strategy for social media channels alongside marketing and alumni teams across the region and globally (where required)
  • Work with other teams (HR, Marketing and fee earning teams) to bring potential news of interest and opportunities to the alumni

Promotion of Alumni Internally

  • Actively promote alumni programme internally, engaging with the relevant teams to help build an understanding and awareness of the programme and benefits
  • Cost effective management of the budget for the alumni programme

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience of developing and management of alumni programmes
  • Relevant degree and / or professionally recognised marketing or communications qualification
  • Experience in a legal and / or professional services environment
  • Managerial skills (preferably including experience of managing international or virtual teams)
  • Strong writing, editorial and oral communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Understands the need and has the ability to manage expectations
  • Leadership ability
  • Results orientated
  • Confident, persuasive and assertive
  • Self-starter with ability to use initiative
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience of working with senior management.
