Overview

This one day workshop, for level 3 and above therapists, will provide you with the skills and knowledge to identify and treat trigger points (myofascial trigger points). This knowledge will improve your portfolio of massage skills and potentially increase your client base. Trigger points not only affect the athletic population but those from all backgrounds especially office and manual workers. With the knowledge gained from this course, you can make a lasting difference to your clients daily life by reducing pain and increasing range of movement.

Description

This one day Trigger Point Therapy workshop, for level 3 and above therapists, will provide you with the skills and knowledge to identify and treat trigger points (myofascial trigger points). This knowledge will improve your portfolio of massage skills and potentially increase your client base. Trigger points not only affect the athletic population but those from all backgrounds especially office and manual workers. With the knowledge gained from this course, you can make a lasting difference to your clients daily life by reducing pain and increasing range of movement.

By the end of the workshop you will be able to:

  • Assess client’s posture and biomechanics.
  • Palpate trigger points.
  • Identify and distinguish between active and latent trigger points, as well as sore points.
  • Adopt correct posture and application position to protect the therapists.
  • Apply trigger points effectively.
  • Provide appropriate aftercare advice.
  • Write treatment notes effectively and promptly.

There will be ongoing assessment and encouragement throughout the 1 day workshop.

Requirements

Case studies required: 20 treatments, including – Trapezius, Levator Scapulae, Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, subscapularis, Teres major/minor, Latissimus Dorsi, Rhomboids, Quadratus Lumborum, Multifidus/Erector Spinae, Rectus Abdominis, Coracobrachialis, Wrist and Finger Extensors/Flexors, Gluteals, Piriformis, Quadriceps, Hamstrings, IT Band, soleus and Gastrocnemius.
