The Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools course is ideal for those who are already working in a support role in a school, or those who want to seek employment in this area. The course aims to enable learners to understand the roles and responsibilities of those involved in supporting teaching and learning in schools. This qualification requires learners to complete 11 units – consisting of written tasks and observation in a school setting. You will need to complete a minimum of 50 hours in a classroom and have a member of staff at the school (usually the class teacher you are working with) act as an expert witness.

Description

TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (QCF) provide learners with the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them work in the following roles; teaching assistant, classroom assistant, learning support assistant, additional needs assistant, pastoral/welfare support assistant, bilingual support assistant or foundation stage assistant. The roles must be under the direction of the class teacher, whose lesson planning and day-to-day direction set the framework within which the individual works.

The course contains competence based units, therefore learners must be working in an appropriate school environment for a minimum of 12 hours per week. This can include voluntary and unpaid work.

To achieve this qualification you will need to complete 11 mandatory units which will give you 32 credits. The units are:

Unit 1:Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults

Unit 2: Schools as organisations

Unit 3: Understand Child and Young Person Development

Unit 4: Understand How to Safeguard the Well-being of Children and Young People.

Unit 5: Support assessment for learning

Unit 6: Support learning activities

Unit 7: Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings

Unit 8: Promote children and young people’s positive behaviour

Unit 9: Support Children and Young People's Health and Safety

Unit 10: Develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults

Unit 11: Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people

Please note there is a £35 payment for awarding body certificate upon completion

Who is this course for?

For anyone who wants to start a career as a Teacher working with children. If you want to become a Support Teacher, Primary school Teacher, Classroom Assistant, Teaching Assistant, this is the course you need to do to get started.

Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements, however, learners should have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy or equivalent. Learners should be keen to work in the sector to support teaching and learning in schools. They should also have attention to detail and be willing to work in a team environment, whilst also being willing to work using their own initiative when required.

You need to be in placement in a school where you can obtain your 50 hours practical evidence to complete your course.

There may be a requirement, by their employer, for learners to be checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The total cost is £450 plus £50 for certificate upon completion. You can complete within 3-6 months as it is online you work at your own pace and decide how fast you want to go. But the course is open for 12 months. Thanks
