Description

The SSSTS courseis a CITB accredited Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme for the construction site supervisor.

The site safety qualification is now a requirement set out by all major contractors for all supervisors who will be working on their sites.

By taking this course you will obtain the knowledge and an understanding of construction skills and its dangers, required to implement the risk assessments and control measures required to provide and maintain a high standard of health, safety and welfare on a construction site as well as key procedures you need to follow to assess potential risks and how to eliminate hazards.

This course is ideal for anyone who is currently working in or is looking to work in a supervisory role within the construction industry

SSSTS Course Content

The main focal point of the SSSTS training course will be on the importance of risk assessments in construction sectors. There is a focus on how to implement the control measures on site and how to use communication to ensure the site remains safe for everyone. The SSSTS course content works on monitoring the control measures and work making sure that the work is carried out correctly and follows the advice and guides set out in the risk assessments.

Topics in the Course Syllabus:

  • The Health and Safety Acts, Regulations and the Approved Codes of Practice and Guidance Notes
  • The H&S Legal System
  • Causes, types and the numbers of construction accidents
  • Risk Assessments in all manner of construction circumstances such as:, working at height, demolition, occupational health, fire, electricity, confined spaces and the control of contractors

Objectives

To ensure that all persons with supervisory responsibilities understand:

  • The purpose of why they are carrying out their identified duties.
  • What is expected of them and why its important that they contribute to the safety of the workplace.

On completion of this course, you will have an understanding of:

  • The Health and Safety Acts, Regulations and the Approved Codes of Practice and Guidance Notes
  • The H&S Legal System
  • Causes, types and the numbers of construction accidents
  • Risk Assessments in all manner of construction circumstances such as:, working at height, demolition, occupational health, fire, electricity, confined spaces and the control of contractors

Assessment and Certification

The assessment method will be by multiple-choice questions at the end of the course as well as being interactive during the course.

Certificates are valid for 5 years. However, due to continuing changes in legislation, technology, environmental management and cultural behaviour, it is highly recommended that refresher courses are undertaken every 3 years of completing the original course.


Course Attendance
Delegates are required to attend both sessions, since without full attendance and achievement in the examination the Construction Site Supervisors’ Safety Certificate cannot be completed.
Delegates must attend the set days in order and, where not on consecutive days, must complete the course within two weeks.Delegates who are unable to attend both days due to extenuating circumstances (e.g. certificated sickness) will need to enrol onto a new course in order to maintain continuity of learning outcomes and attend both days again.
