Overview

This course is those wanting to explore the sciences that underpin sport and exercise performance and extend their skills beyond a bachelors degree. This course has an emphasis on the development of practical skills in sport, health and exercise science. A strong feature of this course is the application of sport and exercise science knowledge and skills within real-world settings and working with real participants. The course will allow students to examine and answer questions such as: How do I help performers manage pressure? What training methods will reduce injuries and maximise performance? How much exercise is needed to gain health benefits? What is needed to develop better technique in a sport?

Requirements:

240 UCAS points from ‘A’ levels including a science subject; BTEC National Diploma grade MMM, BTEC National Certificate grade DD in a sports related subject; BTEC QCF Extended Diploma grade MMM, BTEC QCF Diploma grade DD in a Sports related subject; Access to HE Diploma full award. Successful completion of the Foundation Year of Learning Education and Progression guarantees entry on to this course. Other Requirements: students will be expected to demonstrate an active interest or enthusiasm in at least 1 sport or activity; students must have studied a minimum of 2 years post GCSE level. However, it is expected that some applicants will be mature students with work experience, who wish to further their career development. These applicants will be processed through standard procedures, which may involve an interview as part of the process; entry to this course requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
