COURSE OVERVIEW

Section 1 General understanding of how contracts are managed in the workplace.

Brief overview of contract law in Ireland as it relates to managing contractors on site;

Tools and procedures for managing contracts and contractors; and

Example contracts and issues that arise in participating in managing them.

Section 2 Understanding how contractors can be are managed in the workplace.

How to communicate all relevant information to contractor(s);

Practical examples of what information the contractor will require to perform their function safely;

Explanation of control tools that could be used to monitor the contractor's work; and

How to stop a contractor working if the work is unsafe, unauthorised or causing business disruption.

Some practical issues related to Social Housing that are covered on the course include:

Service Level Agreements, (SLAs);

Contractor Approval Checklist - Safety, Health and Welfare at Work;

Working to the Standards for Rented Housing Regulations;

Contract responsibilities under Tenant Handbook arrangements; and

Dealing with specialist contractors - such as for oil and gas boiler maintenance.

This course is designed for people in Social Housing Organisations who need to manage contracts and contractors carrying out various works, such as maintenance, at their site(s).
