Description

While some children are overly active, there are some who have the tendency to be passive. Children who are passive simply accept everything that they are told, therefore, they lack the ability to think thoroughly or critically. Children who tend be more questioning in that they look for reasons instead of simply accepting what other people say, are said to demonstrate critical thinking. Even during their young age, children can give confident argument or explanation about what they think is right which is an example of critical thinking.

Critical thinking can be developed with the right tools and approach. It promotes powers of observation, understanding logical connections between ideas, rationalizing, thinking clearly, analyzing, conceptualizing, evaluating, reasoning, and solving problems systematically.

At the end of this course, students shall learn how to:

(1) teach children using different knowledge structures;

(2) strategize the uses of effective learning

(3) develop children’s desire to think; and

(4) utilize high-quality critical thinking skills in solving problems.

To achieve these goals, this course shall make use of interactive materials to present the concepts of the topics to be discussed. Assessments shall be done after the entire course to check for knowledge retention and understanding.

Critical thinking prompts an individual to strategize in finding solutions for simple to complex day-to-day problems. Teaching and encouraging critical thinking empower individual lives which is of the essence in this period of rapid of change.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
