Overview

Take the complexity out of business law and make sure your business is on its side. This course is intended to fill you in on the important areas of business law, including the sale of goods, credit and hire agreements, product liability, and more.

Description

When it comes to business, owners and managers should understand that it is not just sales and profits that matter. They also have the obligation to fairly interact with consumers and ensure they are providing products or services that are true to their claims. Likewise, they have the responsibility to operate in a manner that is both legal and ethical to avoid disputes and minimise exposure to costly litigation. This is why a good background in business law is an integral aspect of business ownership and management.

Simply put, business law is the legal framework under which businesses operate in. It encompasses a wide variety of disciplines, including trading structures and business ownership, contracts, employment, and environment and consumer protection. While business law regulates business activities, it is also necessary to protect both consumers and businesses from harmful practices. As such, knowing what it is and how it works is essential to help businesses move to the right direction.

This Online Business Law course will give you a generalist view of the legal frameworks that underpin business operations in the UK. It will introduce you to the British legal system, going over its structure and court types and explaining the differences between common, civil, and business law. It will also thoroughly discuss many of the laws that affect a business, including the supply of goods and services act, consumer credit act, and regulations and acts related to marketing and advertising. Other important topics that will be covered within include product liability, duty of care, banking regulations, and insurance.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
