Mental Health and Nutrition Course

Summary
Overview
Have you ever heard of the “food-mood connection”? Yes, these two are, in fact, connected. Studies have shown that there is a vast and complex connection between one’s mood and eating habits.
For one, the eating habits of most people change when they are stressed out; they tend to eat more and commonly take in sweets to make them happy. The happy feeling is the product of the sugar that is present in sweets. However, depression may cause this habit to turn into a cycle and may cause the sufferer to initially seek and turn to comfort foods which, in turn, may cause diseases.
We cannot control circumstances, but we can control our responses. Take responsibility in knowing what you eat and how it impacts your mental health. And if and when depression or bad circumstances hit you hard, you won’t find yourself in a vicious eating cycle, but in a sound decision on food intake. At the end of the day, a sound mind resonates a healthy body.
