Overview
Workplace Violence
According to the official HSE definition, the term ‘workplace violence’ refers to “any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening disruptive behaviour that occurs at the work site. It ranges from threats and verbal abuse to physical assaults and even homicide. It can affect and involve employees, clients, customers and visitors.” Contrary to popular belief, violence can happen in any workplace and isn’t nearly as uncommon as most believe. Effective control and elimination of violence in the workplace is can only happen when every member of the workforce at every level plays their part. All of which begins with the targeted study of the causes and effects of violence in the workplace.
This important tutorial has been designed for business owners, managers and members of the workforce at every level. Explore a detailed definition of workplace violence, along with a breakdown of the cycle of violence and how/why it can be triggered. Study the anger management process, build an understanding of the behaviour wheel and learn how every employee can and should contribute to the elimination of workplace violence.
