Description

The qualification will be assessed through a combination of written essays, a portfolio of evidence and observation of occupational competence. All units, assignments and learning materials for the course can be accessed through our online learning platform. Students have 12 months access to the online learning platform where they may study entirely at their own pace and where they will cover the following units:

  • Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
  • Internally assure the quality of assessment
  • Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility

Who is this course for?

A lead internal quality assurer is a person who is responsible for and works with a team of internal quality assurance staff, whose role it is to develop assessment procedures and facilitate good practice. This qualification is suitable for those who wish to obtain lead IQA status.

The certificate also provides the opportunity for progression onto a number of different qualifications, such as the External Verifier course.

Requirements

  • Must be aged 19 or above
  • Must hold qualifications and experience in the subject area you will be moderating
  • Must be working as a lead moderator within an educational environment
  • Must lead a team of assessors or internal moderators

Career path

Upon completion of this course learners will be able to gain lead IQA status within their organization and so will be able to guide teams of internal quality assurance staff. Alternatively learners may look into further qualifications such as external verifier qualifications.

I have completed my unit 1 and unit 2 IQA course. I would like to do the Lead IQA course, but I am not working therefore do not have internal verifier

Hi David, if you have already fully completed Unit 1 and Unit 2 (including observations) then Unit 3 is theory based and doesn't require workplace observation.

Do I need to be in a placement to do this course please. As im not in a placement but have done unit 1 and unit 2 of the iqa course previously........

Hi David, we do ask that learners are in a voluntary or paid placement just as there is requirements to submit evidence in the unit 3 where you will have lead a team of IQAs. Thank you.

Hi, I did my iqa unit 1 and 2 a while ago but I am not in any placement. Therefore would I be granted access please to your unit 3 iqa course.

Hi David, there is an observation element in the Unit 3 of the Lead IQA course so you would need to be in a voluntary or paid role in order to complete this. Thank you!

I am interested in doing the IQA unit 3, as I have previously done the unit 1 and unit 2. I have no IQAs or assessors so can I just do theory for now.

Hi David, the units that you have completed will need to be cross referenced with our units for RPL. You will need the IQAs and Assessors in order to complete the observations for the course. Thank you

As I have my unit 1 and unit 2 iqa course, if I do this would I be guaranteed a better salary than just being a general iqa please if so how much.....

Hi David, Unfortunately we can't guarentee any sory of salary raise with this course, this would depend on the employer and what they are looking for. This course is recommended to individuals who wish to go into managing quality assessment for an organisation, and is a top up of the IQA, giving you the capability to coordinate other IQAs.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
