Designed for learners aiming to develop skills in delivering training sessions in a manual handling context. Consisting of two mandatory units, the first unit develops learners' knowledge and understanding of the principles and process of safe manual handling and risk assessment. Whereas, the second unit develops learners' knowledge and skills so that they can prepare, deliver and evaluate a training session.

Description

The qualification consists of two mandatory units. The first unit develops learners’ knowledge and understanding of the principles and process of safe manual handling and risk assessment. The second unit develops learners’ knowledge and skills so that they can prepare, deliver and evaluate a training session.

Unit 1: Understanding the Principles of Manual Handling

Learning Outcomes:

1. Understand the reasons for safe manual handling

2. Understand how manual handling risk assessments contribute to improving health and safety

3. Understand the principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety

Unit 2: Delivering a Training Session

Learning Outcomes:

1. Be able to produce a plan for a training session.

2. Be able to deliver a training session.

3. Be able to evaluate training sessions.

Assessment:

Learners must deliver a minimum 15 minute micro teach within a training session and provide evidence either via witness statement by a competent person with a teaching qualification and manual handling qualification or a video recording which will be assessed by us.
