You don’t need any professional experience or qualifications to study the YMCA Awards Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym-Based Exercise) & Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (Gym-Based Exercise) combined course.

You should be over 16, live in the UK, and have a reasonable level of fitness and gym experience. All filming of practical sessions must take place in a UK gym.

Description

The course and assessments are all online.

You’ll submit written assignments and take your theory exams securely online, film practical assessments at your local gym, and upload the videos to your tutor for marking.

You’ll study 6 units at Level 2:

  • Anatomy and physiology for exercise
  • Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
  • Principles of exercise, fitness and health
  • How to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
  • Planning gym-based exercise
  • Instructing gym-based exercise

Then, you'll study 4 units at Level 3:

  • Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health
  • Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme
  • Programming personal training with clients
  • Delivering personal training sessions
