Main course content:

This course offers a fully accredited qualification recognised by Sage, the International Association of Book-Keepers, and very importantly; employers. Our small class sizes will guarantee you will receive one-to-one support throughout your time with us. Block study packages for work groups are also available to save on time and cost.

  • Set up a computerised payroll
  • Set up employee records
  • Enter gross pay elements
  • Process the payroll
  • Back-up and restore data
  • Understand statutory requirements

Main course content (Section 2 Payroll theory):

  • Understand principles of calculating overtime
  • Deal with statutory and voluntary deductions
  • Understand the principles of PAYE and NI
  • Completion of starters and leavers
  • HMRC reporting

This course is designed to appeal to those individuals who are new to payroll and want to gain an understanding of basic payroll principles and wish to become professional payroll processors. It will also offer certification for those who are already working in the payroll environment but have not, as yet, gained a recognised qualification.

Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements; however, it is important that you have good basic skills in numeracy and literacy which will be assessed during the enrolment session. You will also need to be computer-literate, with the ability to move around a computer screen with confidence.

Should you be looking for a career in payroll you will find that this qualification gives you a very good starting point. It covers the basic requirements for a payroll clerk or payroll assistant. Salaries range from £14,000 to £20,000 based upon experience and qualifications.
