Overview

This CACHE-accredited and Ofsted-recognised level 3 award covers everything you need to become a home-based childcarer, registered childminder or childminding assistant.

This qualification is also intended to support existing childcare professionals in improving their expertise.

Through our partnership with The Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY), you will receive three months free membership, providing access to a range of support and information.

Description

Designed to be flexible and allow you to combine studying with other life commitments, this qualification is delivered over the duration of 8 to 12 weeks. Throughout this period, you will receive:

  • Weekly online teaching sessions

Who is this course for?

This programme is for anybody looking to take their first steps into home-based childcare or improve their skills.

As this is a knowledge-only qualification, no placement in a real work environment is required. The only requirement is that you are at least 16 years old.

Career path

Once you have gained your qualification, you can register with Ofsted and become a home-based childcarer.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
