Overview

This CACHE-accredited and Ofsted-recognised level 3 award covers everything you need to become a home-based childcarer, registered childminder or childminding assistant.

This qualification is also intended to support existing childcare professionals in improving their expertise.

Through our partnership with The Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY), you will receive three months free membership, providing access to a range of support and information.

Description

Designed to be flexible and allow you to combine studying with other life commitments, this qualification is delivered over the duration of 8 to 12 weeks. Throughout this period, you will receive:

  • Weekly online teaching sessions

You will learn how to:

  • Understand and apply legislations and regulations
  • Adhere to safeguarding and child protection regulations
  • Fulfil health and safety requirements and risk assessments

  • Work in partnership with external agencies
  • Utilise play to aid children’s learning and development
  • Perform observations and understand their importance
  • Work in a home-based childcare setting
  • Set up a childcare business
  • Lead and manage a childcare setting
  • Manage finances and taxation requirements
  • Create a business plan
  • Register your childcare business with Ofsted

Who is this course for?

This programme is for anybody looking to take their first steps into home-based childcare or improve their skills.

As this is a knowledge-only qualification, no placement in a real work environment is required. The only requirement is that you are at least 16 years old.

Career path

Once you have gained your qualification, you can register with Ofsted and become a home-based childcarer.
