Overview

This qualification is aimed at learners who wish to become first-aiders in the workplace. This qualification meets the requirements for training emergency first-aid needs assessment.

Description

Topics include:

  • Roles and responsibilities of a first-aider
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • Managing a casualty with external bleeding
  • Managing a casualty with a minor injury
  • Conducting a secondary survey
  • Administering first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
  • Administering first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis

Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for Nominated workplace first aiders, or anyone wanting a comprehensive introduction to first aid.

Requirements

Delegates are requested to complete a pre-course questionnaire that will be handed to the tutor before the first day of the course. This ensures that the course is delivered to the highest quality and is relevant to delegate's needs and objectives.

The assessment comprises of a written examination plus a practical assessment of CPR, recovery position and treatment of a bleed.

After completing a final assessment successful candidates receive a Highfields approved certificate valid for three years.

An annual refresher course is highly recommended.
