About Official Exam, Assessment & Certification
In order to assess the knowledge and skills that students are learning, this GCSE Chemistry Course tests students through multiple online examinations in between lectures. After successfully completing each module, students participate in an interactive assessment process that gauges their understanding of each topic and their ability to put their newfound knowledge and credentials to use in real-world situations. When applying the underlying knowledge to get ready for tests, you may also review your progress at the conclusion of the session and continue to practise whenever you choose.
When you will be ready for the official exam there is an additional registration fee of £345 (Exd. VAT) to book the official exam.
Assessment Structure
The AQA GCSE Chemistry Higher Tier consists of two paper-based and practical assessments.
Paper 1
- Topics covered: Atomic structure and the periodic table, bonding, structure, and the properties of matter, quantitative chemistry, chemical changes; and energy changes.
- Exam duration: 1 Hour 45 minutes written exam
- Marks: 100
- Weight: 50% of GCSE
- Question type: multiple choice, structured, closed short answer and open response
Paper 2
- Topic: The rate and extent of chemical change, organic chemistry; chemical analysis, the chemistry of the atmosphere; and using resources
- Exam duration: 1 Hour 45 minutes written exam
- Marks: 100
- Weight: 50% of GCSE
- Question type: multiple choice, structured, closed short answer and open response
Practical Assessment
The knowledge and comprehension that students have acquired from completing a variety of practical activities and demonstrations offered in this course will be tested in the written exam questions. At least 15% of the qualification's overall marks will come from these questions. Most of these questions will additionally concentrate on students' capacity for independent research and the successful application of their knowledge in real-world scenarios
Valuable Certification
Upon successful completion of the official exam, you will receive an AQA-accredited certification that is highly regarded and globally recognised. With the higher tier paper, you will receive a grade ranging from 4 to 9.
You will receive a permitted grade of 3 if you fail to receive a grade of 4. Students who don't meet the requirements for an acceptable grade 3 will have their records recorded as U (unclassified), and they will not receive a qualification certificate.
