Description

As a requirement of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations, all places of work must provide adequate equipment, facilities, and people to ensure they can react appropriately to injury or illness. The individual meaning of this is dependent upon the outcome of a business’ risk assessment, which outlines whether they need a First Aider, Emergency First Aider, or Appointed Person in the workplace.

This one-day course offers a combination of practical and theoretical learning, allowing delegates to develop the necessary skills to react to workplace emergencies. Consequently, they will be recognised as an Emergency First Aider, meaning the requirement for this in the risk assessment can be fulfilled.

With an interactive approach, this course encourages a confident application of knowledge in real-life situations, equipping Emergency First Aiders with the ability to respond to potentially-life threatening incidents. Once awarded, the Emergency First Aider qualification lasts for three years, after which it is recommended that the course is retaken.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
