Overview

Man has always been intrigued by dreams. Since time immemorial, man has held the belief that dreams could foretell future and also give a glimpse of life that has passed. Certain ancient civilisations also held the belief that dreams were a way to communicate with God or other supernatural powers. But, it would be mere fantasy to assume that dreams have the power to tell or even foretell something. Dreams are in reality a manifestation of the thought processes stored in the subconscious mind. A lot of memories are stored in the subconscious mind; in fact, it keeps a record of everything that happens during the lifetime of a person. It is from this subconscious mind that dreams originate.

In recent times, various scientific studies have been conducted to understand the process of dreams and its relation with the human psychology. Furthermore, various schools of psychology have also come up with their own studies and theories regarding dreams and their interpretations. The process of understanding dreams and assigning meanings to them is called Dream Analysis. Extensive studies on dreams and their connection with the human psyche have been conducted by Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
