Description

What will you learn in this Diploma in Aromatherapy

Module 1

In this module, you will learn all about What is Aromatherapy? Before progressing into Aromatherapy blends and practical usage of essential oils it is important to understand the basics of Aromatherapy.

Module 2

This module will teach you about History of Aromatherapy. Aromatherapy has been around a very long time and can be traced back to over 4000 years before the birth of Christ. Ancient civilizations used essential oils like cinnamon, ginger, myrrh, and sandalwood for their medicinal use. Over 4000 years ago Indian literature listed over 700 plant-based ingredients for their medicinal value. Traditional Indian medicine known as Ayurveda incorporates aromatic massage as one of its main aspects. This form of Aromatherapy has changed little to this day and is becoming very popular in Western Aromatherapy.

Module 3

In this module, you will learn all about The Definition of Aromatherapy. In order to begin any discussion on aromatherapy, the term ‘aromatherapy’ needs to be defined. It has become a very fashionable word illustrating anything from cigars to perfume. There has been a failure to clearly understand the meaning of the word and it has been used to provide credibility for frivolous products. So as a therapist it is important that you truly understand the meaning of ‘aromatherapy’

Module 4

This module will teach you about What are Essential Oils? An Essential Oil is a liquid that is generally distilled using steam or water from the flowers, bark, leaves, seeds, stems, roots or other elements of a plant. Contrary to the use of the word oil, Essential oils are not an oil in the way most people think. As oils are derived from many different parts of a plant, they are not oil in the true sense. They come in a variety of colors and consistency, from a clear, watery texture, to a thick, syrupy and dark.

Module 5

In this module, you will learn all about Essential Oil Safety Information. Essential oils are highly concentrated liquids. Some oils may be harmful if not used carefully. That doesn’t mean that there should be unfounded worry about using essential oils. Treat essential oils as medicine and follow the steps outlined below.

Module 6

This module will teach you about Administration of Essential Oils. It is important to know whether, and under what conditions, essential oils enter the body’s circulation, as well as where they go once absorbed and how the body eliminates them. We consider the passage of oils through the skin, absorption by inhalation, and oral, rectal and vaginal administration.

Module 7

In this module, you will learn all about The Art of Blending. Aromatic blending is like cooking, some cooks follow the recipe and never deviate from the ingredients, whilst other cooks prefer to adlib or substitute ingredients to make their meal their own. Still, other cooks never open the book and create their own imagination.

Module 8

This module will teach you about Harmonizing Your Blend. Therapeutic blending focuses on creating a recipe that will aid with a particular emotional or physical condition. Therapeutic blending concentrates more on a result than on the aroma of the blend, but all the same, it’s important to marry a therapeutic blend that is also pleasing in the aroma.

Module 9

In this module, you will learn all about Aromatherapy Baths. Bathing in essential oils is a wonderful way to take in your essential oil blend. Relaxing in a bath of hot water compliments the effects of well-chosen essential oils. Aromatic baths provide relief from stress and anxiety, assist with muscle pains, or offer a sensual introduction to a romantic evening with your partner.

Module 10

This module will teach you about Aromatherapy for Stress. Most people turn to Aromatherapy to alleviate stress. There are many types of stress in our busy lives; there is positive stress, normal stress and distress. Positive stress is that high you get when working hard, it is the energizing feeling you get when accomplishing a goal. It is this stress that gets us through a day with enjoyment. It is energizing and does not require essential oils to treat.

Module 12

In this module, you will learn all about Aromatherapy for Children. Like the advice for pregnancy, we recommend consulting a professional aromatherapist or doctor before using essential oils on children. Treat essential oils like medicine and use reduced potency for children.

Module 13

This module will teach you about Application of Essential Oils. As the fragrance in a plant is an essential oil, it is easy to see that aromatherapy is a treatment using essential oils. But knowing what aromatherapy is about is only the beginning. In order to understand thoroughly the full meaning, it is necessary first to discover and learn about the origins and power of essential oils themselves, and then to learn the various treatments by which the oils can be effectively used.

Module 14

In this module, you will learn all about Table of the Basic Methods of Use of Essential Oils. Regular breaks are important for safety reasons. Essential oils are very powerful and concentrated. Working with them for long periods of time in a closed area can be overwhelming or can make you feel headachy.

Module 15

This module will teach you about The Holistic Approach. change is in the air. Our lives are being transformed; we have become busy scurrying people. Rushing from here to there, not knowing quite what we should be doing. The purpose of our lives and the direction of society are no longer what they were, as the basis of our reality and beliefs changes. It is a time of chaos, crisis, and a great opportunity.

Module 16

In this module, you will learn all about Understanding Disease / Pathology. An understanding of the nature of disease and suffering is vital if we are to understand the concept of holistic healing. Unless we recognize why a system or part of the body is out of balance then we can rarely find a way to redress the situation.

Module 17

This module will teach you about The Benefits of a Holistic Aromatherapy Treatment. The client will be helped onto the road of recovery because of the benefits of an empathic therapist who had caring hands and their treatment included the essential oils that were prescribed for the whole of her client’s lifestyle.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
