The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training allows and qualifies you to work in the lifelong learning sector in a full teaching position within further education as well as in some secondary schools. With this certification you are able to apply for your Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).

Description

The duration of the course is approximately 6-12 months. Students are required to have access to 100 hours of teaching practice whilst on the course. if students have done any teaching in the past 3 months we may be able to take this into consideration. Students will also be observed for a minimum of 1 hour during your course on 8 separate occasions, we can come to students’ location for these at no extra cost. Alternatively you can be observed by one of your colleagues but they must be suitably qualified and submit proof of this qualification, along with a CV and a CPD. There are a 5 mandatory units within the course, these include;

Units covered:

Planning, delivering and evaluating inclusive teaching and learning
Assessing learning in education and training
Understanding theories, principles and models in education and training; and
Understanding professionalism and the influence of professional values in education and training.
The optional units offer a wide range of options including action research, understanding and managing behaviours in a learning environment, literacy or numeracy theories and frameworks and engaging with employers.

This course is recommended for anybody that is trying to get into the teaching sector, as it makes the student eligible to apply for QTLS

Requirements

Students must be working either full time - or part time in some sort of teaching role, in order to provide proof of 100 hours teaching practice.
