This course allows learners to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and career progression in Plastering. It covers the following skills: Preparing backgrounds surfaces and plastering materials, Applying plastering materials, Fixing sheet materials, Laying sand and cement screeds,Applying plaster materials to external surfaces,Principles of plastering and communication, Health and safety aspects.You will develop basic skills in plastering to progress into further studies and work.

This course is helpful for those wishing to do small plastering jobs for customers as part of their service. i.e Kitchen fitters or tiler and for those people who wish to undertake basic plastering DIY jobs around the home.

This course is aimed at those who wish to work in the plastering industry. You will quickly learn how to plaster and how to produce a professional job every time you pick up a trowel and you can be confident in your ability to earn a great income as a plasterer.

Description

MODULE 1 – PRINCIPLES OF CONSTRUCTION, COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION

The aim of this module is to provide the learner with knowledge of building methods and construction technology in relation to understanding a range of building materials used within the construction industry and their suitability for the construction of modern buildings. The learner will understand how to select types of building information, know about environmental considerations in relation to construction,understand the construction of foundations and internal and external walls. This module also explains about construction of floors and roofs and how to communicate in the workplace.

MODULE 2 – HEALTH , SAFETY AND CONSTRUCTION WELFARE

This module covers the health and safety regulations, roles and responsibilities. Accident and emergency reporting procedures and documentation, identifying hazards in the workplace, handling of materials and equipment safely, knowing about access equipment and working at heights are other topics covered in this module. Use of proper and appropriate PPE, relevant safety measures to be followed at work are mentioned in this module.

MODULE 3 – APPLYING PLASTERING MATERIALS TO INTERIORS

The purpose of this module is to develop a plasterer’s techniques and skills for applying a variety of plastering materials to interior surfaces. This module explains how to interpret information from drawings and specifications relating to interior work, selecting and preparing equipment and materials for interior work. This module gives and understanding of how to apply one, two and three -coat plastering to interior backgrounds.

MODULE 4 – FIX DRY LINING AND PLASTERBOARD PRODUCTS TO INTERIORS

The aim of this module is to develop a plasterer’s techniques and skills for fixing dry lining and plasterboards to interior surfaces, give an understanding how to interpret information for fixing dry lining and plasterboards, understand how to select materials and components for fixing dry lining and plasterboards.

MODULE 5 – LAY SAND AND CEMENT SCREEDS

This module gives an explanation of how to develop a plasterer’s techniques and skills for laying sand and cement screeds. The learner will understand how to interpret information for laying sand and cement screeds, know how to select materials and components and how to lay sand and cement screeds.

MODULE 6 – APPLYING PLASTER MATERIALS TO EXTERNAL SURFACES

This module covers the topic of how to develop a plasterer’s techniques and skills for applying a variety of plastering materials to external backgrounds, understand and interpret information for external work, understand how to select materials, tools and equipment for external work. This module gives an understanding of how to apply render to external backgrounds and being able to apply two coat rendering to external backgrounds.

MODULE 7 – PRODUCE REVERSE MOULDS FOR FIBROUS WORK

The purpose of this module is to develop a plasterer’s techniques and skills for producing reverse moulds, give an understanding of how to interpret information for producing reverse moulds, know how to select materials, components and equipment for producing reverse moulds and produce reverse moulds.

MODULE 8 – CASTING AND FIXING FIBROUS PLASTERWORK

This module helps to understand how to develop a plasterer’s techniques and skills for casting and fixing fibrous plasterwork. The learner will understand how to interpret information to cast and fix fibrous plasterwork, get an idea of the tools and equipment used to fix fibrous plasterwork , understand how to cast fibrous plasterwork and be able to fix and finish fibrous plasterwork.

The good news is that no prior learning knowledge or experience is essential to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone wishing to learn more about Plastering and would like to take part in a highly rewarding home study course. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and study further, so we try to keep our entry requirements to a minimum.
