Description
Workplace settings could be at a children’s centre, nursery, youth and community centres, or at homes as a registered childminder. Best practices include promoting safety, health, happiness and well-being in all workplace settings. Characteristics of a good children and young people’s workforce include being open-minded, trustworthy, highly motivated, professional, and being genuinely concerned about the welfare of the children.
At the end of this course, students shall learn how to:
(1) understand the importance and theories of the workforce of children and young people ;
(2) develop good study skills;
(3) utilise different approaches to work based learning and the governing legislation;
(4) work with gifted and talented children and young people;
(5) be familiar with policies for learners with special educational needs and disability;
(6) be familiar with risk management in professional practice with children and young people;
(7) follow practitioner rules and guidelines;
(8) understand the benefits of learning a language, including the relevant legislation and governance policies;
(9) establish an effective reflective practice in training;
(10) maintain a collaborative relationship with parents, career and community; and
(11) use an integrated working concept.
To achieve these goals, this course shall make use of interactive materials to present the concepts of the topics to be discussed. Assessments shall be done after the entire course to check for knowledge retention and understanding.

Certificate
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be awarded an IOLEN Certificate of Achievement from IOLEN Accreditation. This should help validate their learning experience and skill, and can be used as a resume builder.
Course Format
This course is divided into several modules and is delivered online through our interactive learning management system. Students are given access to the learning portal where they can access the course 24/7. This gives them complete control over the pace of their learning while also enabling them to study from home, in their offices or from a laptop while traveling.
Course Duration:
Normative or minimum period of study to complete this is 50 hours. Take note that this is only an estimate. The duration of completing the course still depends on the learner’s pace and ability to absorb information. Additionally, as the course is delivered online, learners have the options to divide and study the course in multiple session or go through it one go.
