Eligibility:

To earn the CBAP® certification, applicants must have:

  • Minimum 7500 hours of BA work experience aligned with A Guide to the Business Analysis Book of Knowledge®(BABOK® Guide) in the last 10 years
  • Minimum 900 hours in four of the six knowledge areas
  • Minimum 35 hours of Professional Development in the past four years
  • Two references from a career manager, client or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®) recipient
  • Signed Code of Conduct

The Exam

The CBAP® exam is 3.5 hours long and consists of 120 multiple choice questions. The questions are case study-based (i.e. longer cases (1-1.5 pages) of information) with multiple questions about the case. The exam assesses the candidate’s practical application of the defined competencies for this level 3 certification in the IIBA Certification Framework. The components tested in the exam are listed in the exam blueprint.

The CBAP® exam blueprint, which is aligned with BABOK® Guide v3, is as follows:

Examination Fee:

First attempt ($325.00 USD for IIBA® members or $450.00 USD for non-members, plus GST/HST for Canadian residents). There is also a non-refundable application fee of $125.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
