Requirements

There are no specific educational or experience requirements. However, PMI does recommend that candidates have some prior project management experience and/or have completed some formal project management training before taking the exam. PMI also require that candidates meet one of two eligibility criteria:

  1. A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate's degree or global equivalent), with at least 1,500 hours of project experience, or 23 hours of project management education

  2. A four-year degree (bachelor's degree or global equivalent), with at least 23 hours of project management education.
