Overview

This fantastic, brand new CACHE qualification will provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding you need to work directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or special schools.

To complete this qualification you must already by working in a school or college on a paid or voluntary basis and you must have a school mentor who can observe you (unless you're enrolled on the option to have a visiting assessor, in which case a Teaching Assistant College assessor will observe you in school).

How will you be assessed

The knowledge elements of the course will be assessed through assignments which you will submit to your online portfolio, which your Personal Support Tutor will assess for you.

The practical elements of the course will be covered through a combination of direct observation by your work place mentor and reflective diaries and professional discussions.

You will be assigned a Personal Support Tutor who will support you throughout your qualification and assess your work. You will be sent a textbook and candidate handbook which you can use throughout the qualification, as well as having your own online portfolio. This portfolio is a streamlined, easy to use system where you will be able to access your eLearning, submit your work and track your progress throughout the qualification.

Who is this course for?

Anyone working in a role supporting learning such as a teaching assistant, one-to-one support, learning support assistant or learning mentor.

Requirements

You should be at least 16 years old with a good standard of written and spoken English.

You need to have a placement in a school setting to gain experience. We recommend spending at least 2 days each week in school, however there is no set requirement. Your placement could be paid or voluntary.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
