Overview

This course is designed for students who wish to work in roles that support pupils learning, including the role of a teaching assistant, learning support assistant and special needs assistant. The course will provide you with essential knowledge and practical skills for creating an encouraging a safe environment that fosters children's learning and development. In addition you will learn how to search and apply for a job.

Description

The course covers topics: communication and professional relationships, child development, providing and supporting learning activities including ICT, numeracy, literacy, safeguarding of children and young people, health and safety and team work, equality, diversity and inclusion, ways of searching for a job and preparing for an interview.

Requirements

This is Level 2 course. It requires students to have minimum Level 1 in written and spoken English and a valid DBS check. In addition, students have to attend a placement for a minimum of 5 hours a week in a school setting for the duration of the course. In year 1 classroom or above. You will need to sit an Initial Assessment and show that you are able to study at Level 1. Further to the Initial Assessment you will also need to attend an interview to assess your full suitability for the course
