Overview

Business Philosophical Approaches to Business Ethics

From many years philosophers are defining ethics and the system of making rational decisions. Various philosophers have been representing their views and opinions about ethics on the basis of their best knowledge and learning for regulating, protecting, and recommending the concepts of wrong and right conduct.

Ethics are the question concerned with how people ought to behave and how the fundamental rights of individuals should be protected by our decent and honourable conduct.

In business, ethics are essential to follow as it promotes the ethical culture of an organization which is based on our common values of honour, responsibility, clearness, and admiration.

The unit seeks to deliver the introduction of philosophy and define the various philosophical approaches to ethics. The Golden Rule, The Golden Mean, Utilitarianism, The Categorical Imperative, Utopianism are the philosophies which are deeply discussed in this unit.

The unit examines the office code of ethics and describes how to avoid ethical dilemmas. On the completion of this unit, learners will be equipped to understand how to apply philosophical approaches, what some easy strategies are and what are the pitfall and excuses.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
