Why Classic Hair Up Collection?

Want to learn practical hair up skills to build your clientele and stand you in good stead throughout your career, whether you’re interested in styling hair for catwalk shows, photoshoots or weddings?

This foundation-level course is a must have! Encompassing 3 fundamental techniques and 2 advanced styles, the lessons are designed to empower you with the skills and confidence to impress clients and progress your career. You’ll learn:

  • Cheat Pleat Up-Do – simple and fast when you’re up against the clock
  • High Ponytail Up-Do – a classic technique that works on its own or as a base for other styles
  • Fishtail & French Plait – two must-have skills for hair up specialists
  • Two Strand Twist Up-Do – a traditional style with a modern spin
  • Chignon Back Bun – a classic framework for creative hairstyling

Remember, you’re in control of your development as a hairdresser with MHDPro courses. With our unique See-Do-Stop-Check methodology, you’ll embed techniques easily and have the confidence to rely on them throughout your career. Your course will also earn you 10 hours CPD and a VTCT & ITEC-endorsed certificate, which you can download and display to impress clients and employers, present and future – and use as evidence of learning towards your formal diploma.

What You Get From Each Lesson

Lesson 1 – Cheat Pleat Up-Do

In your first lesson, Callam Warrington demonstrates a quick and easy alternative to the traditional pleat. Ideal for catwalk and photoshoot shows – or any occasion when you’re short on time – you’ll work on your blow drying, pinning and tonging skills, as well as barrel and spiral curls. The end result is elegant, glamorous and amazingly fast.

Lesson 2 – High Ponytail Up-Do

Callam’s back in lesson 2 to demonstrate the high ponytail – an essential skill if you’re an aspiring session worker or a busy stylist preparing clients for special occasions. Packed with tips on everything from hand positioning to binding with cloth elastic, you’ll even learn how to complete the style with a blended section of weft. Brilliant on its own or as a base from which to get more elaborate.

Lesson 3 – Fishtail & French Plait

In his final tutorial, Callam shows you 2 essential techniques: the fishtail and the French plait. First, you’ll perfect your fishtail plaiting skills, performing a modern loose undone spin. Next, learn a soft and diffused update of the classic French plait, which is incredibly effective both on the catwalk and for bridal clients.

Lesson 4 – Two Strand Twist Up-Do

Vic Picolotto takes charge in your fourth tutorial to teach you the two strand twist. Thorough preparation and product use are crucial to your success – as is ponytail placement, double rotation and positioning. This tight up-do with its combination of twists will delight your clients, leaving them with a clean yet classic style with a modern twist.

Lesson 5 – Chignon Back Bun

Any up-do course wouldn’t be complete without a lesson from Sharon Blain! In your final tutorial, she demonstrates the chignon back bun. Building your techniques ranging from back brushing to blow drying and ponytails, you’ll learn how to create movement and volume with rollers, leaving your client with a smooth refined finish. Gorgeous!

At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
