Overview

Botany I - Plant Physiology And Taxonomy Online Course. 100 Hours Endorsed Certificate Course (TQUK - Training Qualifications UK).

Discover the world of Botany. The course contains the basis of plant science, and is an introduction to plant physiology and taxonomy, covering general botany including morphology and anatomy. Developed and regularly updated by Botany experts with extensive experience acquired over many years in the field, you can be sure you will have gained up-to-date scientific knowledge of plants once you graduate.

Each lesson begins with background reading of what you will learn followed by a self assessment test and set task or tasks to help you acquire a deeper level of understanding. You will then prepare and submit a written assignment based on what you have learned, which is marked and graded by your personal mentor. He or she will then return it to you with constructive and helpful comments. In this way your scientific knowledge of botany will be cemented in three important ways: reading, researching and reporting: ADL’s three “R”s.

Deborah asked:

Hi. Can you please tell me a bit more about how this course is delivered? Are there online lectures or is it just written information?

Answer:

Hi Deborah Our course are all online. Every student is assigned their own dedicated tutor who is an expert in their subject area. They provide as much or as little individual contact as you require. You can contact your tutor whenever you need – your hours are not limited. Our courses also have "practical assignments", which give you the opportunity to undertake practical work to help you acquire further knowledge, skills and experience. FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
