Also known as commercial law, business law is a legal field designed to regulate the formation of a business and how it should function as a commercial entity. Business law ensures that business establishments will provide fair business to consumers and produce goods that serve its purpose. It draws on a variety of legal disciplines including tax law and intellectual property rights to achieve its core purpose of ensuring that every business is able to fulfill its responsibility and obligation to provide quality product/services without any misleading marketing and promotional campaigns.
Advertising products and services takes a big role in business profitability. It is in advertising that the value of goods, products and services and its purpose is being made known and offered to consumers. Advertisements are subject to follow business law and it should not be false or misleading.
Business law exists to protect the rights of consumers and help businesses maximize their value. A competent knowledge of business law offers a good foundation for a solid career in commerce and provides a good entrepreneurial direction for every business organization. Description
At the end of this course, students shall develop a full understanding of: (1) the British Legal System; (2) relationship between supply of services and sales of goods; (3) marketing and advertising boundaries; (4) the liability of the products; (5) circumventing professional negligence; and (6) banking regulations and insurance.
To achieve these goals, this course shall make use of interactive materials to present the concepts of the topics to be discussed.
Assessments shall be done after the entire course to check for knowledge retention and understanding.
