Towards the end of this GCSE Chemistry Course, you will be able to:

Compatible Assessment Process

The understanding and skills that you are learning in this GCSE Chemistry Course are assessed by means of a number of interactive online tests that must be completed towards the end of each module. These evaluations reveal whether or not your can successfully display these abilities. Moreover, you can also monitor your development and frequently check your grade when the module is complete.

When you will be ready for the official exam there is an additional registration fee of £345 (Exd. VAT) to book the official exam.

Official Assessment Structure

The AQA GCSE Chemistry Foundation Tier consists of two paper-based and practical assessments. Please note that this GCSE course has been developed for the foundation tier paper, so the grades you can achieve range from 1 to 5.

Assessment Format of Paper 1

  • Concepts covered: Atomic structure and the periodic table, bonding, structure, and the properties of matter, quantitative chemistry, chemical changes; and energy changes.
  • Exam time: 1 Hour 45 minutes written exam
  • Total marks: 100
  • Total weight: 50% of GCSE
  • Question format: multiple choice, structured, closed short answer and open response

Assessment Format of Paper 2

  • Concepts covered: The rate and extent of chemical change, organic chemistry; chemical analysis, the chemistry of the atmosphere; and using resources
  • Exam time: 1 Hour 45 minutes written exam
  • Total marks: 100
  • Total weight: 50% of GCSE
  • Question format: multiple choice, structured, closed short answer and open response

Practical Assessment

  • Through a variety of hands-on activities and demonstrations, teachers will evaluate students' knowledge and comprehension of the course material.
  • At least 15% of the final qualifying score will come from these questions.
  • Most of these questions will concentrate on students' capacity for independent study and knowledge application in practical contexts.
