If you are responsible for the sale of alcohol, then this course is a must-have for you. In accordance with The Licensing Act 2003 (England and Wales), anyone who is responsible for the sale of alcohol to the public must be a Personal Licence Holder. This course provides a full overview of alcohol licensing.
Sales of alcohol on licensed premises can only be made by or authorised by a Personal Licence Holder. All individuals applying to hold a Personal Licence must have first achieved a Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders. LASER’s Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders covers all the legal and social responsibilities of a Personal Licence Holder and meets the statutory requirements of the Licensing Act 2003. It is supported by People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for the hospitality and catering industry. This qualification is available to learners aged 18 years or older. Learners are assessed via a multiple choice question exam taken online under invigilated conditions.This is via proctoring where you and your screen are recorded to ensure the exam has been completed under regulated exam conditions

About the QualificationLASER’s Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (QCF) covers the legal and social responsibilities of a Personal Licence Holder.It is aimed at people working in, or preparing to work in the licensed retail trade, for example in pubs, clubs, hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, convenience stores and off-licences. It is also relevant to those studying hospitality and catering management.Sales of alcohol on licensed premises must be made or authorised by a Personal Licence Holder. All individuals applying to hold a Personal Licence must have first achieved a Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (QCF).The LASER Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (QCF) meets the statutory requirements of the Licensing Act 2003.It is supported by People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for the hospitality and catering industry.Successful learners will understand the:
- nature, purpose and period of validity of a Personal Licence;
- application process and legal duties when applying for a Personal Licence;
- legal duties of a Personal Licence Holder;
- roles, responsibilities and functions of licensing authorities;
- Licensing Objectives and the importance of partnerships in promoting these objectives;
- nature and strength of alcohol and the effect on the body;
- law in relation to premises licences;
- role and responsibilities of the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS);
- law in relation to Temporary Event Notices;
- rights and legal duties of the responsible persons in relation to operation of licensed premises;
- law in relation to the protection of children on licensed premises;
- powers of the police and other authorities in relation to licensed premises;
- prohibitions and exemptions in relation to licensable activities.
Once you are ready we will arrange to book your exam which is proctored online with the proctor exam system recording you and your screen to ensure the exam has been completed under regualted exam conditions.
The exam consists of 40 multiple choice questions and you have 60 minutes to complete the pass mark is 70%. You will receive your results on the day and your Laser certificate will be forwarded to you once it has been processed by Laser Learning awards
