Description

The course is aimed at Project Managers who are adding to their knowledge of traditional approaches such as PRINCE2® , or who are operating in an agile environment running more complex and scalable projects.

Course Approach and Content SPOCE offer this course as 2 day Foundation and 4 day Foundation and Practitioner options.

This is the 4 day Foundation and Practitioner course and is a mixture of input and practical sessions teaching to both the ‘Foundation’ and ‘Practitioner’ APMG Syllabus levels, delivered by an APMG approved trainer with practical experience of project management. The course prepares delegates for and incorporates both the Foundation and Practitioner exams and includes additional focus on the application of the method using Practitioner-level tasks and ‘objective test’ style exam questions.

The pre-course material includes SPOCE’s highly acclaimed event preparation materials and the AgilePM® Manual. Delegates should spend approximately 10 hours studying this pre-course material in order to be well prepared for the course.

Course Content • Fundamentals and the Philosophy; Principles; Preparation; Lifecycle and Products; Team structures • Roles and Responsibilities; Communication; MoSCoW and Timeboxing; Lifecycle Configuration • Estimation & Measurement; Quality & Maintainability; Planning, Control & Risk; Implementing AgilePM.

Course Objectives

To give delegates a practical understanding of Agile Project Management which is based on the internationally recognised framework of DSDM Atern. This will enable delegates to become immediately productive as a project manager in an agile project environment. To highlight the difference between simple lightweight agile approaches which typically operate at the solution delivery (or ‘work package’) level and the greater holistic view of how multiple work streams are co-ordinated with the appropriate level of governance and control. The course also prepares delegates for both the Foundation and Practitioner.

Exams

Foundation: 40 mins, closed-book. 50 multiple choice questions. Required pass mark 50% (25/50).

Practitioner: 2½-hours, open-book (AgilePM® Handbook v2 only). Objective-test. 4 questions, 20 marks per question). Required pass mark 50%. (40/80)

Passing the exams will give you internationally recognised professional qualifications.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
