What is the target audience?

  • Those undertaking the Police Station Representatives Accreditation Scheme (PSRAS), including non-qualified candidates who must sit the Written Exam.
  • Please note, candidates are required to complete their own revision and training to ensure that they have sufficient knowledge to commence the accreditation. This course is intended to supplement the candidate’s learning and development. If viewed in isolation, this course will not provide sufficient information to pass the Written Exam or competently advise clients at the police station.
  • Accredited police station representatives who require a minimum of 6-hours of police station related training annually to maintain their accreditation.
  • Criminal practitioners including duty solicitors

  • The importance of the custody record and other sources of information at the police station
  • The Disclosure Officer - inadequate/insufficient disclosure
  • Private consultation
  • Giving evidence on behalf of your client at the Crown Court trial
  • Adverse inferences at trial
  • Your rights as opposed to the rights of the client

  • Amendments to the Codes of Practice issued under PACE

  • The removal of clothing, by force if necessary
