Edexcel Further Maths A-Level – what you’ll learn

Study Hours

  • The learning hours for this course are up to 300 hours, which is around 30 minutes per day for 18 months.


Study Method

  • Study completely online using our award-winning learning platform, MyOxbridge.


Course Duration

  • On average, students complete this course in 12 months, but we'll give you up to 24 months. Don’t worry if you go over the year though, we can organise an extension to your course for an additional fee, which also extends your tutor support.


Assessment

  • For this course, you’ll be required to complete four standard Edexcel Further Maths A-Level exams:

    Edexcel Further Maths A-Level Exams:

    • Paper one: Written exam lasting 1 hour 30 minutes, 75 marks, 25% of A-level (Core unit)
    • Paper two: Written exam lasting 1 hour 30 minutes, 75 marks, 25% of A-level (Core unit)
    • Paper three: Written exams lasting 1 hour 30 minutes, 75 marks, 25% of A-level
    • Paper Four: Written exams lasting 1 hour 30 minutes, 75 marks, 25% of A-level

    For papers three and four, choose two of the following: (either: any two option 1 papers, or, a matching pair of option 1 and option 2 papers)

    Option 1- Further Pure Mathematics 1, Further Statistics 1, Further Mechanics 1, Decision Mathematics 1

    Option 2-Further Pure Mathematics 2, Further Statistics 2, Further Mechanics 2, Decision Mathematics 2

    The options you choose from the above will be examined in papers three and four.

    We provide a guaranteed exam space in one of our partner exam centres around the UK.

    Assignments 

    During your course, you’ll be required to complete various assignments. These do not contribute towards your final grade but provide you with an opportunity to submit work to your tutor for marking and feedback. This will help you to monitor your progress and will be used to produce predicted grades if needed.

  • Entry requirements - It is strongly recommended that you have studied Mathematics to GCSE (e.g. Grades 6-9 or B-A*) or equivalent level before starting this course. You must already have an A-Level in Maths or be studying A-Level Maths alongside Further Maths. Further Maths isn’t available as a separate course because the content involved follows a particular order in relation to A-Level Maths. If you intend to study both A-Level Maths and A-Level Further Maths with Oxbridge, we can guide you as to which topics you will need to cover.
  • UCAS Points - 56

Requirements

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
