COURSE CONTENT / CURRICULUM

Module 1: TEFL world

Why is it that EFL teachers are so in demand, what are the main difficulties that students have when trying to learn English and what are some of the teaching methods and approaches that have been used in the TEFL classroom over the years?

Module 2: The Roles of the Teacher

We will equip you not only with the knowledge you need to teach English, but also help you get to the root of what it is that makes a good teacher so that you can employ this knowledge effectively in the classroom.

Module 3: The Roles of the Learner

A big part of being a highly effective teacher is knowing what it is that makes your students tick, understanding the different reasons why there are in the classroom and the variety of ways in which individuals learn. We will give you the tools to find out how to access this information and put it to use in the classroom from the word go.

Module 4: Pronunciation

A practical look at the aspects of pronunciation that you need to help your students with and lots of tips and ideas on how to do this.

Module 5: Teaching Grammar

We will make you confident in your knowledge of English grammar and show you how to teach it in a fun, accessible way.

Module 6: Teaching Vocabulary, Receptive and Productive Skills

Here we show you how to expand students’ knowledge of vocabulary using a variety of techniques, the importance of targeting different skills in the classroom and many ways of bringing these skills to life.

Module 7: Lesson Planning

Knowing how to plan an effective lesson is the key to being a good teacher and here will teach you how to put all your knowledge together to do just that.

Module 8: Professional Classroom Teaching Skills

A comprehensive guide to the daily practical skills you need to employ in all of your classes to make the class run smoothly and enable the students to learn more effectively.

Module 9: Classroom Management

We will teach you how to manage your class and keep your students engaged. From day one you will be in control as the teacher.

Module 10: Testing and Assessment

What different types of testing and assessing are there and how should they be done? Here we will show you how.

Module 11: Games and Activities

A whole host of practical ideas and materials to make your lessons fun and to keep your students coming back.

Module 12: Your TEFL career begins

We will guide your through what you need to do to develop as a teacher and show you all the wonderful opportunities which lay ahead.

Hi Liudmyla Our courses are done 100% online. You will be able to download an online certificate on completion of the course, and you will have the option of ordering a hard copy certificate for delivery by normal post or DHL (outside of the UK and Western Europe).

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
