Therapy Technical Instructor

We have a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic Band 3 Therapy Assistants to join the Therapy Team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) working with adults.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The integrated Therapy Services Department is a lively, friendly and dynamic department, which has over 240 whole time equivalent staff. There are also many varied opportunities to participate in training and we will ensure that you complete your competency training to equip you with the competence and confidence within this post.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patient groups across the acute wards environment. This will involve working alongside trained occupational therapists, physiotherapists, therapy assistant colleagues and the wider multi-disciplinary team, facilitating the patient journey from admission to discharge. This post offers the potential to develop skills that cross physiotherapy and occupational therapy, as well as further enhancement of core skills in communication, team working and caseload management.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who enjoys working as part of a team, is eager to learn and engage in all aspects of patient rehabilitation and care. This role requires you to be physically fit and active and able to physically carry, handle and fit adaptive equipment and manoeuvre patients. Therapy Services run a 7-day flexible working service so you need to be able to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

Our commitment to our staff ensures you are well supported by the team and receive the appropriate initial and ongoing training and supervision, enabling you to be competent and excel in all aspects of patient care whilst gaining fulfilment from this rewarding job role.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

As one of the largest acute teaching Trust’s in England, we can offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. We believe you deserve the best possible surroundings in which to do your job and we want to support you in doing your job to the best of your ability.

As a Trust, we support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. You’ll have an opportunity to discuss this at interview. Our LiveWell and inspire programme offers opportunities, support and advice, including smoking cessation services, exercise and activity classes, and support for mental health.

UHS employees are able to access a huge range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata) on appointment, can access on-site nursery facilities (subject to availability), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
