We are honoured to be working in partnership with a number of Alternative Provisions in the London Borough of Redbridge.
We are looking for candidates with excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills and the ability to engage & inspire young people who demonstrate extremely challenging behaviour.
You will work with a range of ages and the work will depend on the age of the children and their individual needs, but may include:
- preparing learning materials under the supervision of the Teacher
- working inside or outside the classroom with individuals or groups
- adapting support according to needs
- looking after children's physical, social and emotional welfare
- creating a stimulating environment
- giving information and help to teachers
- keeping records and attending review meetings
You will have extensive experience working with learners with extreme behavioural difficulties within an Education setting.
We work with a number of provisions regularly and there are opportunities available for both short term and long term supply as well as Permanent posts starting both this term and in the new academic year.
This inspirational school is registered for Key Stage 2-5 for pupils with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Special Educational Needs (SEN) and a separate Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
All pupils receive individualised programmes which support their transition into the school environment.
Each tutorial group has a teaching team of three (Teacher, HLTA and TA) supported by specialist teachers and the Deputy Head and Head Teacher.
The primary activity of the school is the provision of specialist education services to young people with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and highly focused education services for pupils with an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC).
They work with the most disaffected, challenging pupils the South East. Pupils have often been excluded from numerous schools and have been out of full-time education for an average of 18 months before they arrive at this school. The school has not permanently excluded a single pupil in more than six years as they are aware of the damage that further exclusion causes.
The school offers positive outcomes to young people of school age who have disengaged, or are at the point of disengaging with education. Many of these pupils are known to the criminal justice system and a significant percentage of the pupils are looked after or children in need. Most have been excluded from at least two schools.
Despite these challenges, the school supports their pupils in achieving a wide range of accredited outcomes in examinations and other courses. There is a sense of pride, purpose and achievement. Importantly, more than 80% of the pupils are in education, training or employment six months after leaving.
