Systems Administrator, Windows Server, 2nd line, VMWare
If you are an experienced Systems Administrator looking for a varied role within a dynamic SME environment, then this is an excellent opportunity to join a prestigious Oxford University college in the heart of town. My client places a huge value upon their staff and offers an unparalleled working environment.
Working directly with an engaging IT Manager and with the opportunity to deputise for them when required, the Systems Administrator will be part of a small team and will work on a variety of interesting projects (a new VMWare environment is being rolled out shortly), whilst providing both proactive and reactive 2nd line support to server and network equipment spread across three sites, used by staff and students alike.
Working for one of the oldest colleges in Oxford, the Systems Administrator will hold a key role within a close-knit team, with the backing of a supportive manager. The college has invested heavily in equipment and facilities, and the environment is of course one of stunning history! On top of a basic salary to £33,500, the Systems Administrator will receive a generous pension contribution, and a full, free college lunch each day! Offering a rare 36.5 hour week and a fantastic 30 days’ holiday, the work/life balance is truly excellent.
What do I need?
Whilst it is hoped that the successful Systems Administrator will have a broad and varied technical background, it is important that core experience includes some of the following to a 2nd / 3rd line level:
- Windows Servers, although the college operates a mixed Microsoft/Linux server estate
- Virtualisation technologies, ideally VMWare
- Active Directory and domain infrastructure.
- Networking – router/switch/Ethernet/VLAN/Wi-Fi – predominantly Extreme
I want to do that!
If you have any questions or would simply welcome a chat about this excellent Systems Administrator position, just call me or drop me an email, as I’d love to hear from you! If, though, you think this role could be right for you and you’d like to learn more, then please apply now!
