Sustainability Manager - Cambridge or Norwich with potential for travel between nationwide offices

As part of a wider strategy for the business, our client wish to achieve a real change in reducing their environmental impact in the drive towards carbon net zero.
In their efforts to achieve this they are looking to recruit a Sustainability Manager who will take on a new and leading role in the development and delivery of environmental strategies and carbon net zero goal.
Initially the role will involve developing the firm’s environmental and sustainability strategy and policies across all areas of the business, including energy usage, waste management, water usage and management, transport and travel, food, procurement and managing the carbon footprint of our real estate. This strategy would allow our client to set a realistic date for achieving carbon net zero, and include a series of suggested (and realistic) measures to get there.
The successful candidate will be expected to liaise with sustainability experts and to take on board ideas and innovations that members of staff may suggest. The role would also involve supporting the bids team.
It will be a challenging and wide ranging role requiring a high level of communication and influencing skills working with key teams and stakeholders to help create and then deliver a firm wide, consistent set of agreed environmental strategies and goals.
Key relationships will need to be developed with Partners, Head of Offices, Legal Services Managers and local support managers/team leaders, Business Support Heads and Facility management teams.
Your background and experience should include:
- A real interest in, and a passion for, sustainability
- Experience in delivering environmental and sustainability strategies and policies
- An understanding of the process for setting, measuring, and reporting on non-financial KPIs around sustainability
- A qualification to degree level or the equivalent with work related experience in an environmental subject
- Experience in preparing for and overseeing ISO or equivalent accreditation
- Property/facilities experience
- Good working knowledge of IT including Microsoft office suite
The firm operates a 'Hybrid’ working policy where colleagues have the ability to work a mix of office/home based working. This position will require some travel between offices.
