Title: Software Support Analyst (T-SQL Based)
Location: Dartford, Kent
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000
Skills: General IT skills, Networking, TCP/IP, SQL, SQL Server, T-SQL
We are actively recruiting for a Software Support Analyst to join an exciting company based in the outskirts of Dartford.
This is a Technical Support role with a difference, that requires suitable candidates to be able to demonstrate a genuine passion and / or interest in learning more about SQL Server based technologies. You will ideally be educated to degree level and have demonstrable experience working in IT Support, ideally gaining some knowledge of either T-SQL, PL/SQL or MySQL.
Joining a growing Application Support team, suitable applicants will be expected to proficiently log calls, answer queries and provide 2nd Line Support to a host of well known, global organisations on the bespoke applications and systems my client builds for them. Almost all applications are based on SQL Server 2012 - 2014 technology and therefore common issues will lie in SQL queries, scripts or stored procedures.
You will need to have some experience of working on a Helpdesk or Technical Service Desk, however my client is more interested in hearing from people that can demonstrate a passion for further developing their skills in SQL Server database technologies. Perhaps you are currently studying towards a T-SQL certification, perhaps you have installed MySQL at home to increase your knowledge or perhaps you undertook a work placement whilst at University which involved working with data. Either way, you must have this passion to be considered.
As part of your duties, you will be handling escalated calls from the 1st Line / Helpdesk team, and work to resolve SQL Server related issues yourself. The SQL Development team are always on hand to provide assistance in more complex issues surrounding SSIS and long stored procedures. It is expected that the successful candidate will aspire to learn these skills in order to be able to better service the needs of clients moving forwards.
Unlike a typical Support role, with this position you can expect a somewhat different career development path. Rather than moving into traditional networking / server support positions, suitable candidates could look at progressing into a SQL Server Database Developer role, a CRM based role or even a more advanced Application Support role in the future.
Career development prospects are genuinely available, this is demonstrated by the fact that this role has been created due to an existing member of the team being promoted within the business.
To summarise, this is a unique role that will appeal to applicants looking to make their mark in the fiercely competitive SQL Server world. You can expect to receive regular performance reviews, salary increases and genuine career prospects.
