Software Engineer - Fully Remote - Up to £45k

Avanti Recruitment is collaborating with a company who focus on security software that defends airspace and they are looking for a Software Engineer to join their established team!

The company are largely responsible for making sure drones are not able to encroach on airport/airfield space.

The company are happy with remote working and can move through the process quickly. You should be able to get to the office in Reading once or twice a month for meetups.

They are working on some interesting projects now that look set to change the way drones can interact. Some of their technology is proprietary, and much of it is ground-breaking. They are well-funded and are expanding across Europe and areas of the UK they are not already in.

Qualifications / skills and experience

• Must hold a 2:1 University Degree (in a relevant subject) OR have extensive demonstrable experience in a similar relevant role.
• Familiar with mechanical engineering development using lifecycle and systems engineering principles.
• Thrive on complex mechanical challenges
• Familiar with software development practices, including software lifecycle development and deployment.
• Familiar with integrating hardware with complex software systems.
• Familiarity with Python, C++, Image Processing, Geospatial calculations
• Awareness of agile ceremonies including standups, sprint planning and retrospectives
• Attention to detail but with a focus on practical and effective designs
• Ownership of the mechanical design with a "hands on" approach if necessary
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Key job requirements and responsibilities:

• Conduct design activities including system and detail level.
• Produce technical specifications
• Produce work instructions/method statements/risk assessments.
• Provide engineering support to project tasks.
• Managing quality requirements for design and manufacture.
• Collaborate with software teams to integrate hardware and software components.
• Provide technical, engineering and mathematical support to software teams.
